There is a channel between the ear and throat. However, water does not reach throat because eardrum plucks this channel. Therefore having ears washed does not invalidate fasting. But if there is a hole on the eardrum, it is possible for water to reach stomach while having ears washed. In this case, if water reaches stomach, it invalidates fasting.
