ʿAbd al-Rahman b. Saʿd related what he heard from Abu Saʿid al-Khudri (ra) as follows: “The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ‘The most wicked among the people in the eye of Allah on the Day of Judgement is the man who goes to his wife and she comes to him (they have intercourse) and then he divulges her secret.’” (Muslim, al-Nikah, 124; Abu Da’ud, al-Adab, 32)
According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is a lie in itself; and do not look for others’ faults and do not spy, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert (cut off your relationship with) one another, and do not hate one another; and O worshipers of Allah! Be brothers (as Allah has ordered you!”) (al-Bukhari, al-Adab, 57; Muslim, al-Birr, 28)
According to Thawban (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “It is not allowed for a man to look inside another man’s house until he has been given permission, for if he looks, then he has entered.” (al-Tirmidhi, al-Salat, 148; Ibn Hanbal, V, 280)
According to Abu Barza al-Aslami (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “O community of people, who believed by their tongue and belief did not enter their hearts, do not back-bite Muslims, and do not search for their faults, for if anyone searches for their faults, Allah will search for his fault, and if Allah searches for the fault of anyone, He disgraces him in his house.” (Abu Da’ud, al-Adab, 35)
According to Ibn ʿAbbas (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “. . . and if somebody listens in on a group’s conversation when they do not like him to do so or if they get away from him, then molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection . . .” (al-Bukhari, al-Ta’bir, 45)
