Fasting is an act of worship performed by abstaining from eating, drinking and having sexual intercourse from imsak until iftar (Baqarah, 2/187). Acupuncture is a method of treatment for various illnesses by pricking certain points on the body with special needles. It does not invalidate the fast because it does not fall within the scope of the things that invalidate fasting nor is it nutritional to body.
