ʿAbd Allah (b. Masʿud) (ra) said, “We were with the Prophet (saw) when we were young and had no wealth whatever. So Allah’s Messenger said to us, ‘O company of youth! Whoever among you is able to get marry, he should marry, because it is the best thing to make him lower his gaze (from what is forbidden) and to guard his dignity.’” (al-Bukhari, al-Nikah, 3; Muslim, al-Nikah, 1)
