According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “A believer is a kindhearted person. Those who do not have good relations with other people, and do not let others near to them are not people of good character.” (Ibn Hanbal, II, 400)

According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “A man will follow the religion of his close friend, so let each of you look to whom he takes as a close friend.” (al-Tirmidhi, al-Zuhd, 45; D4833, Abu Da’ud, al-Adab, 16)

According to Abu Musa (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “The example of a good pious companion and an evil one is that of a person carrying musk and another blowing a pair of bellows. The one who is carrying the musk will either give you some perfume as a present, or you will buy some of it from him, or at least you will acquire through smell a fine fragrance from him, but the one who is blowing a pair of bellows will either burn your clothes or you will receive a bad odor from him.” (Muslim, al-Birr, 146; al-Bukhari, al-Sayd, 31)

According to Abu Saʿid (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “Do not keep the company of anyone except a believer and make sure no one eats your food except a person of piety (taqwā).”  (al-Tirmidhi, al-Zuhd, 55; Abu Da’ud, al-Adab, 16)

According to ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAmr (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “The best of companions according to Allah are those who are best to their companion and the best of neighbors according to Allah are those that are best to their neighbor.” (al-Tirmidhi, al-Birr, 28; al-Darimi, al-Siyar, 3)

According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “The human spirits are like a community. Whosoever gets along well in that community decides to live together; whosoever does not get along well chooses to depart from each other.” (Muslim, al-Birr, 159)
