What are the hadiths about bidʿa innovation? Examples of hadiths about bidʿa innovation…
According to Jarir b. ʿAbd Allah (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “He who introduced some good practice in Islam, which was followed after him (by people), he would be assured of reward like one who followed it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who introduced some evil practice in Islam, which had been followed subsequently (by others), he would be required to bear the burden like that of one who followed this (bad practice) without their sins being diminished in any respect.”(Muslim, al-ʿIlm, 15)
Jabir (ra) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) delivered a sermon, then he praised Allah, and lauded Him for what He deserved, and then he said, “The best of speech is embodied in the Book of Allah; and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad; and the evilest affairs are the innovations (in religion); and every innovation is error.” (Ibn Hanbal, III, 310)
According to ʿAʾisha (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “If someone makes an innovation in our affairs which is not in harmony with them, it is to be rejected.” (Muslim, al-Aqdiyya, 17; B2697, al-Bukhari, al-Sulh, 5)
According to ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAbbas (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Allah refuses to accept the good deeds of one who accepts innovation until he gives up that innovation.” (Ibn Maja, al-Sunna, 7)
