What are hadiths about human responsibility (the great trust)? Examples of hadiths about human responsibility (the great trust)…
ʿAli (b. Abi Talib) (ra) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “There are three (persons) whose actions are not recorded: a sleeper till he awakes, a youth till he reaches puberty, and a mentally impaired person till he becomes sane.” (Abu Daʾud, al-Hudud, 17; al-al-Tirmidhi, al-Hudud, 1)
Zakariyya reported that he heard from ‘Amir who said Nuʿman b. Bashir (ra) heard that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “The example of the person abiding by Allah’s order and restrictions in comparison to those who violate them is like the example of those persons who drew lots for their seats in a boat. Some of them got seats in the upper part of the boat, and others in the lower part. When the latter needed water, they had to go upstairs to get water (and that troubled the others), so they said, ‘Let us make a hole in our share of the ship (and get water directly) saving those who are above us from troubling them.’ So, if the people in the upper part let the others do what they had suggested all the people of the ship would be destroyed, but if they prevented them, both parties would be safe.” (al-Bukhari, al-Shirka, 6)
ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAmr (ra) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “It is enough as a sin for a man that he neglects him whom he maintains.” (Abu Daʾud, al-Zakat, 45)
ʿAbd Allah b. ʿUmar (ra) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) saying, “Every one of you is a guardian, and responsible for what is in his custody. The ruler is a guardian of his subjects and responsible for them; a husband is a guardian of his family and is responsible for it; a woman is a guardian of her husband’s house and is responsible for it, and a servant is a guardian of his master’s property and is responsible for it.” (al-Bukhari, al-Istiqraḍ, 20)
Nuʿman b. Bashir (ra) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “The similitude of believers in regard to mutual love, affection, and feeling of fellowship is that of one body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body aches, because of sleeplessness and fever.” (Muslim, al-Birr, 66)
