What are hadiths about oppression? Examples of hadiths about oppression…
According to Abu Hurayra (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “… A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him…” (Muslim, al-Birr, 32)
According to Anas (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Help your brother whether he is an oppressor or oppressed.” Then a man said, “O Messenger of Allah! I will help him if he is oppressed, but if he is an oppressor, how will I help him?” The Prophet (saw) said, “By keeping him away from oppression and preventing him from oppressing others. This is the help you can give to him.” (al-Bukhari, al-Ikrah, 7)
Abu Bakr (ra) heard the Prophet (saw) say, “When the people see the oppressor and they do not stop his oppression, then it is soon that Allah will envelope them all in a punishment.” (al-Tirmidhi, Tafsir al-Qurʾan, 5; Abu Daʾud, al-Malahim, 17)
According to Ibn ʿAbbas (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, when he sent Muʿadh b. Jabal (ra) to Yemen, “… be afraid of the curse of an oppressed person because there is no curtain between him and Allah.” (al-Bukhari, al-Zakat, 63; Muslim, al-Iman, 29)
According to ʿAbd Allah b. ʿUmar (ra), the Prophet (saw) said, “Oppression will be an utter darkness (for the opressor) on the Day of Resurrection.” (al-Bukhari, al-Mazalim, 8; Muslim, al-Birr, 57)
