Abu Idris (ra) said, “I heard Muʿawiya delivering the sermon, and he narrated a few ḥadīths from the Messenger of Allah (saw). He reported that he heard the Prophet (saw) say, ‘Every sin may be forgiven by Allah except (that of) a man who kills a believer deliberately, or a man who dies as a disbeliever.’” (al-Nasaʾi, al-Muharab, 1)
‘Abd Allah (b. Masʿud) (ra) said, “I asked the Messenger of Allah (saw), ‘What is the greatest sin in the sight of Allah?’ He said, ’That you set up a rival (in worship) to Allah although He alone created you.’”(al-Bukhari, al-Tafsir, (al-Furqan) 2)
