What are the hadiths about Satan? Examples of hadiths about Satan…
According to Anas (ra), Allah’s Messenger (saw) said, “Satan circulates in the human body as blood circulates in it.” (Muslim, al-Salam, 23: B3281, al-Bukhari, Bad’ al-Khalq, 11)
Abu Saʿid al-Khudri (ra) said, “I heard the Prophet Muhammad (saw) say, ‘The devil (Iblis) said to his Lord, ‘By Your Glory and Majesty! As long as the progeny of Adam exists on earth, I shall continuously misguide them.’ At this Allah remarked, ‘By My Glory and Majesty! As long as they seek My forgiveness, I will go on to pardon them.’” (Ibn Hanbal, III, 29)
According to ‘Abd Allah b. Mas’ud (ra), the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Indeed Satan has an effect on the son of Adam, and the angel also has an effect. As for Satan, it is by threatening evil repercussions and rejecting the truth. As for the effect of the angel, it is by his promise of a good end and believing in the truth. Whoever finds that, let him know that it is from Allah, and let him praise Allah for it. Whoever finds the other then let him seek refuge with Allah from Satan (the outcast).” (al-Tirmidhi, Tafsir al-Qur‘an, 2)
Sabra b. Abi Faqih (ra) said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say, ‘Satan sits in the paths of the son of Adam. He sits waiting for him, in the path to Islam, and he says. ‘Will you accept Islam, and leave your religion, and the religion of your forefathers?’ But he disobeys him and accepts Islam.’” (al-Nasaʾi, al-Jihad, 19)
According to Abu Hurayra (ra), Allah’s Messenger (saw) said, “A believer tires (weakens) his satans as one of you tires his camel on a journey.” (Ibn Hanbal, II, 380)
