How to perfom qaza prayer in islam? How to make up missing prayer?
I. The Sin Of Not Praying The Salat On Time
One of the most important matters concerning the salat is it being prayed on time. It is stated in the Qur’an: ‘’Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.’’ (Nisa 103)
The question ‘’Which deed is the most virtuous?’’ was asked to the Prophet-peace be upon him-, to this He replied: ‘’ The salat that is prayed on time.’’[1]
There will be no barrier left between shirk and kufr for the person who leaves the salat by not praying it on time, their iman will be in danger. Nabi a.s stated, ‘’ What lies between a man and infidelity is the abandonment of prayer.“[2]
The person who can not pray on time due to forgetting the salat or being unable to wake up to perform the salat must pray the qaza to make up for this as soon as possible.
The Muslim person who has reached puberty must pray every salat on time. It is considered as ada to pray the salat on time. Praying the salat that has not been prayed on time at a later time is considered qaza. The salat will also be carried out when it is performed as a qaza prayer. However it is considered a great sin to knowingly delay the praying of the salat to after its time and it is needed to ask Allah Ta’ala for forgiveness fort his wrong doing.
II. Rulings Concerning the Salat al Qaza
The person who has not performed their prayer to due either forgetting and sleeping or even if there is no excuse, this prayer must be performed as a qaza salat.
A prayer that can not be performed during a journey or in a state of residence, when its qaza prayer is going to be performed, the situation in which it was left to the qaza must be considered. According to this, the salat that was not prayed on a journey, the qaza of this will be carried out as it would be on the journey no matter where it is being prayed. The salat that has been left to the qaza prayer whilst the person is in a state of residence, the qaza prayer will be performed just as it would be when a person is in a state of residence, no matter where it is prayed.
When the qaza of prayers are being performed, if there are less than five prayers left to the qaza, it is required to observe the order of the prayers. This order is the case between the normal prayer and qaza prayer times, and also between the qaza prayers themselves.
D. IMAMAT AND JAMAAT
“Jamaat” means “The person or people who follow the imam while performing the salat”. The least amount of people it takes to make up a jamaat is one person. There is no limit as to how many people there can be.
As for the word “Imam”, although it can mean captain and leader, in regards to matters concerning salat it means the person whom the jamaat follows while performing the prayer.
